The flu annual epidemic kills 290,000 to 650,000 people every year. With the rainy season upon the Philippines from June to November, Filipinos are at greater risk of catching the influenza virus. The World Health Organization (WHO) asserts that the most effective way to prevent the disease is annual vaccination against influenza.
“After going through waves of a grueling pandemic, taking millions of people by surprise, the last thing we need is to head on to a flu season unarmed. As early as now, we must be ready and prepare for any and all eventuality,” said Dr. Donald Josue, Vaccines Medical Director at GSK.
Getting vaccinated is especially important for people at high risk of influenza complications, as well as those who live with or care for people in high risk groups.
FLUARIX Tetra is a vaccine indicated for the prevention of diseases caused by 4 strains of the Influenza virus and other closely related strains. This is recommended as a yearly vaccine for children 6 months old and above, and adults—especially those at high risk. WHO recommends annual vaccination for the following:
pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
children aged between 6 months to 5 years
elderly individuals (aged more than 65 years)
individuals with chronic medical conditions
To get vaccinated, visit the CIF Central Corp. clinic at 41-F Esteban Abada, Quezon City from Mondays to Fridays, 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM.
